COVID-19 Information and Protocol

The Revelstoke Railway Museum reopens to visitors on June 29, 2020

The safety of our guests and staff is our top priority. Through responsible choices, our visitors play a critical role in helping us minimize potential risks to ensure a positive experience for all. We’re looking forward to welcoming you back. Thank you for your understanding, and for working with us to keep everyone safe.

What we’re doing to keep you safe:

  • COVID-19 Relaunch Considerations

  • Limiting visitor numbers (maximum occupancy of 75 visitors at a time).

  • Encouraging physical distancing with signage, spacing ‘lines,’ and route markers.

  • Modifying certain exhibits and visitor experiences to comply with recommended protocols

  • Providing physical barriers such as plexiglass shields in customer service areas.

  • Limiting hands-on, interactive elements to limit visitor contact in our galleries.

  • Providing access to hand sanitizer and handwashing facilities.

  • Increasing cleaning and disinfecting throughout our facility.

What we’re asking of our guests:

  • Stay home if you are not feeling well. More information on conducting a self-assessment.

  • When you buy your ticket, provide a name and telephone number for your party, to assist with contact tracing should it become necessary.

  • Admission to the Museum is dependent on the current visitor load and our museum’s capacity. This includes Members of the Revelstoke Railway Museum.

  • You are encouraged to bring and wear your own face mask, if available. Note that the Museum will not be providing masks to visitors.

  • Wash your hands, for at least 20 seconds, regularly during your visit. Avoid touching your face, and cover coughs or sneezes with a tissue or your elbow.

  • Keep your party together when walking through the Museum, and keep children within reach at all times.

  • Please be patient. Don’t crowd around exhibits. Practice physical distancing, keep two metres away from others, and please wait for your turn.

  • Explore the galleries by following marked routes.

  • Please bring your own strollers and wheelchairs, as these will not be available onsite.

What is open?

  • Most of our permanent exhibits are open, with the exception of displays that are high touch or are too compact to safely distance in. The simulator is open only for visitors following the required sanitizing protocol.

  • Our Museum Store is open, with restrictions on visitor capacity and measures in place to support physical distancing. We encourage the use of contactless payment, rather than cash.

  • The park outside the Museum is open. We ask visitors to maintain physical distancing while enjoying a walk around the heritage railway equipment.

What is closed?

  •  Kid’s Caboose area, Steam Locomotive Cab, Caboose 437477 and Theatre, as these areas are high touch, or are too compact to physically distance in.

  • We are not offering educational or public programs, birthday parties, school trips, or group visits at this time.

Our goal is to make your visit to the Revelstoke Railway Museum comfortable and safe. We hope you will enjoy being back at the Museum and connecting with Revelstoke’s rich railway culture and heritage.

The safety of all visitors and staff is our top priority. We are closely monitoring the situation and will determine if additional precautions are needed and update this information.
