The Revelstoke

Model Railway Club

The Revelstoke Model Railway Club was initially an informal group of modellers that met in people’s homes to share comradeship and operate trains in a prototypical manner. After hosting a model railway convention in 1996, we talked about creating a formal club and building a club layout. In about 2000, the decision was made to construct a layout. The layout was designed to be portable so that it could be set up at model railway meets around B.C. About 2006, we were invited by the railway museum to set up the layout on the mezzanine floor at the railway museum.

As time went on and the layout size became bigger the idea of taking the layout out of town became more unmanageable with diminishing memberships. While the layout can still be disassembled into individual sections, it is likely that it will stay where it is. The layout depicts portions of the Revelstoke Division of the CPR, with the focus being the portion from Revelstoke to the Connaught Tunnel under Rogers Pass. The club currently has seven members and new members are welcome.
